Description

This object is an open star cluster located 3400 light years away in the constellation of Monoceros at a declination of -10 degrees. The 6.7 magnitude cluster of 20 stars spans 6 arc-minutes in our apparent view, which corresponds to a diameter of 6 light years.

This is a sparse squarish concentration of stars. The cluster's lucida is the double star just left of center - a 8.5 magnitude bright orange star with an 11th magnitude companion only 10 arc-seconds away.
